Got Questions?
Here’s everything customers need to know about ordering, care, sizing, and more.
Standard shipping typically takes 5–7 business days within the continental United States. Expedited options are available at checkout for faster delivery, usually arriving within 2–3 business days. Orders are processed within 1–2 business days before shipment.
Items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange, as long as they’re unworn and in original condition with all tags attached. The return process is straightforward—just initiate a return through the order confirmation email or customer account portal.
For leather styles, wiping down with a damp cloth after each wear helps remove dirt and salt. Applying a leather conditioner every few months keeps the material supple. For suede or nubuck, a specialized brush works best to restore texture. Avoid machine washing or submerging in water.
Yes, there’s a manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for a specified period from the date of purchase. Normal wear and tear isn’t covered, but issues like sole separation or stitching failures are. Warranty claims can be submitted through customer service with proof of purchase.
Most styles run true to standard sizing, though some tactical and work styles may feel slightly roomier to accommodate thicker socks. Checking the specific product page for sizing notes is recommended, as certain models have unique fits. Reading customer reviews can also provide helpful insights.
Many styles are designed with construction methods that allow for resoling by professional cobblers. However, this depends on the specific model and how it was manufactured. Contacting customer service with the style number can confirm whether repair services are available or recommended.

Real Feet, Real Missions
When your job depends on where you stand, your boots aren’t just gear—they’re the foundation of everything you do.

I’ve been wearing the GX-8 side-zip boots for three years on patrol—still waterproof, still comfortable on 12-hour shifts. No break-in period needed, which blew my mind.

Bought the Delta-9 boots for my husband who’s in corrections. He used to come home with sore feet every day. These have actual arch support that lasts. He’s on his second pair now.

The Ultra-Lites are the only tactical boots I’ve found that don’t feel like concrete blocks by hour six. Light enough for fast movement but tough enough for everything I’ve thrown at them.

Built for People Who Actually Walk
Bates makes boots and shoes for anyone who’s tired of choosing between something that looks decent and something that lasts past six months. We started because the market kept offering either flimsy fashion boots that fall apart or industrial work boots that weigh five pounds and look like it. There had to be something in between—footwear that works on a job site, a city street, or a hiking trail without making you look like you’re cosplaying as either a lumberjack or an investment banker.
We test everything the boring way: by wearing it. A lot. Our design team includes a contractor who kept blowing through boots, a teacher who’s on her feet all day, and a weekend hiker who got sick of blisters. They argue constantly about heel counters and insole density, which sounds tedious but results in shoes that actually hold up. We’re not trying to disrupt the footwear industry or reinvent the wheel—wheels work fine, and so do properly constructed boots. We just make them without the markup you’d pay for a logo or the corners you’d accept from a budget brand.
Everything we sell comes with actual specs—leather thickness, sole composition, stitching type—because you deserve to know what you’re buying. If something wears out before it should, we want to know about it. We’ve redesigned three different models based on customer feedback about specific pressure points and weak seams. Not very romantic, but a lot more useful than a mission statement about “embracing the journey.”
